Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations in the Fitzroy Valley

Fitzroy Crossing is widely recognised as a leader in community driven responses to complex needs. Aboriginal community controlled organisations emerged in response to historical and modern barriers to accessing services, recognising the unique strengths and deep understanding of communities to drive their own life outcomes.

These organisations collectively work together to deliver services to families and communities.:

Marninwarntikura Women’s Resource Centre (MWRC) is an Aboriginal Community-Controlled Organisation located in Fitzroy Crossing, on Bunuba Country in the Kimberley region of Western Australia.

Marra Worra Worra is the oldest and largest Aboriginal resource agency in the Kimberley. Marra Worra Worra run a diverse range of community development programs across the Fitzroy Valley.

Nindilingari – Aboriginal Cultural Health Service, a holistic and culturally appropriate service that recognises the impact of Aboriginal lore and culture on the health of the community. Nindilingiari is in a partnership with the WA health service to deliver health promotions, prevention and community services.

Mangkaja Arts – Located in the centre of Fitzroy Crossing Mangkaja functions as a fine art gallery, specialty store and a studio space for the artists to paint and make cultural artefacts.

KALACC - the Kimberley Region’s Peak Indigenous Law and Culture Centre. Based in Fitzroy Crossing, KALAAC supports the traditional cultural practices of the 30 language groups of the Kimberley Region.
